Tuesday, March 16 -- Membership meeting, Round Table Pizza in the Safeway Shopping Center, 19:00 hours. Come early to socialize before the meeting.

Clay Abrams, K6AEP, will talk about PC hardware and Linux compatibility.

Police car

Friday, March 19 -- Amateur Radio/Police volunteer patrol. WPARC members assist the Lincoln PD by acting as "eyes and ears" for local patrols. Since budgets have been cut, this has become even more helpful to law enforcement.

Police

We meet at the Lincoln PD substation at 7th and H Sts. at 20:00. The officer assigned to us that night will brief us on specific areas of interest and what events have transpired recently that are of concern,

The patrol ends around 23:00. We always ride with no less than two people per vehicle. Each vehicle is equipped with a 2-meter radio. Every 30 minutes we have a safety check. One of the participants may ride with the assigned officer as net control.

We are only look-outs and nothing else. If something is noticed, we report it to the net control and an officer may be dispatched.

To volunteer or to get more information, contact Gary, K6GRY at bogie08@att.net.

Saturday, March 20 -- Linux at the Library, Willow Community Room, Twelve Bridges Library, 485 Twelve Bridges Drive, 13:00-15:00.

Users of the Linux operating system meet to discuss and learn more about this fast growing free operating system option. This free program is for those interested in learning more about using Linux. Moderated by Clay Abrams, K6AEP, a retired IT professional.

Sunday, May 16 -- Second Annual RotoRun, 08:00-10:30, at Ron Feist Park, 9180 Twin Schools Road, Granite Bay. This is a fun run of 5K and 10K circuits to support the charitable activities of Rotary.

We are looking for approximately ten volunteers to provide communications during the run. If you would like to participate in a fun event, please email Al Savery, W6TLJ, at alsavery@rpm-mortgage.com.
